Editor-in-chief of Technological Forecasting and Social Change
Scott Cunningham is a professor of public policy at the University of Strathclyde. He is one of two editors-in-chief for the journal Technological Forecasting and Social Change. He has been an editor with the journal, formerly an associate editor, since 2008. He was appointed to the journal by Hal Linstone, the founding editor of the journal.
He researches the politics of technological change, and has a new book on the topic contracted with Edward Elgar on the topic for 2024. He teaches on topics of infrastructure, public goods, and access to services. This includes investigating the importance and use of open models and open data in understanding the public sphere. He had a brief career in industry as a data scientist, earning national and international patents in his role as a data scientist. He serves the university as a member of the technology and innovation cluster. The cluster is part of the Glasgow Innovation District; the city of Glasgow is one of the United Kingdom’s largest, and most innovative high-tech regions.
